Safer exchanges are not created by technology alone. They come from good culture, clear expectations, sensible boundaries, and tools that help members make informed choices.

## Clear profiles reduce uncertainty

A good member profile does not need to reveal everything about a person. It should simply help others understand who they are, what they are comfortable offering, and how they prefer to take part. Profiles, interests, skills, and community activity all help transform an unknown name into a recognisable neighbour.

That is why safer exchanges are not a barrier to community. They are what make community possible at a larger scale. When members know there is a structure behind the kindness, they can relax enough to participate.
